Sydney Sweeney Accused of ‘Faking’ Her Service Dog

Sydney Sweeney has been accused of “faking” her dog’s service animal status to gain airport travel privileges.

Context

• On June 2, Sydney Sweeney was photographed walking through LAX airport with her fiance Jonathan Davino and her dog Tank. Unusually, Sweeney’s dog Tank was wearing a “service dog” vest.

 

• Euphoria star Sweeney adopted Tank as a pet in 2015 and there is allegedly no evidence to support the fact that Tank is a certified service animal.

 

• Now, social media users are accusing Sweeney of pretending that Tank is a service dog so he can be allowed in places where animals are usually forbidden — such as airports.

• Most notably, Service Dogs in Training (SDIT) trainer Caroline posted a TikTok video criticizing Sweeney: “So is no one going to talk about how Sydney Sweeney actively puts a service dog vest on her dog just to travel with it and take it into not pet-friendly places?”

 

• In the clip, Caroline also shared photos of Sweeney taking her dog to Target which is not a pet-friendly store.

 

• Another Twitter user pointed out that Tank was pulling hard on Sweeney’s leash in the LAX photos — which is something that a service dog is trained to absolutely not do.

 


People should 100000% talking shit about how Sydney Sweeney puts a service vest on her very obviously not service dog while it legit drags her on a leash like YOU HAVE A PLATFORM. People should NOT be doing that.

Could Sydney Sweeney’s Dog Be a Service Animal?

• While there is allegedly no proof that Tank is a certified service animal, Sweeney spoke about her anxiety and experience with panic attacks in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in July 2022.

 

• So it is possible that Tank has been designated as “an emotional support animal” for Sweeney — rather than a service dog that helps a person with a disability lead a more independent life. In any case, it is generally not allowed for an animal to wear a service vest without actually being certified to do so.
