Did Olivia Wilde Call Out Taylor Swift for Climate Change?

  • On Friday, Olivia Wilde re-posted a tweet about Taylor Swift on her Instagram Stories that read: “I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist.”

  • Olivia shared a tweet originally posted by Dutch actor and climate activist Katja Herbers on October 5. Katja suggested that Taylor has so much cultural power that she could end climate change with her boyfriend choice.

  • Fans were not pleased that Olivia seemed to shade Taylor on Instagram and the actress’ name began to trend negatively on Twitter. Swifties told her to keep the singer’s name out of her mouth.

  • A social media user tweeted: “The stupidest thing @oliviawilde could do after breaking up with Harry Styles is daring to mention Taylor Swift.”

  • Many fans took Olivia’s post on her Instagram Stories as a criticism of Taylor’s impact on climate change. In the past week, there has been a wild conspiracy theory circulating online that Taylor is dating Travis Kelce to detract from the singer’s carbon footprint due to her use of private jets.

  • Several angry fans appeared to call out Olivia’s own alleged impact on climate change when she regularly traveled to see her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles on his Love on Tour: “If Olivia Wilde was so concerned about the climate maybe she wouldn’t have flown everywhere to be at the same goddamn concert every night.”

  • Other fans argued that Olivia should be more considerate and know not to comment on Taylor’s dating life — given the Don’t Worry Darling actress had experienced sexist backlash for her relationship with ex Harry.
